Sex is pretty straight forward. And yet we are bombarded with fanciful images of what it is and what it should be. Whether it is porno flicks or the cover of a tabloid exploiting the sexual trivializations of Paris Hilton, the image of sex is so fucked up. We’re caught up in the distortion of sex at the benefit of commerce. We either paid to see it or someone else did.
It never turns out to be the way penthouse presents it: A big breasted 110 lb blonde bombshell sucking an elephant size load through the python of a muscle man. The image of sex is so distorted, we become so disconnected from the sexual act and more engrossed with the idea of it. “People forget the brain is the biggest erogenous zone”, as said by Jackie Treehorn in the “Big Lebowski”. Without getting all therapeutic about it, we are grossly enchanted with the phantasms of sex because we like it.

While working on our current issue, we came across this fantastic artist. Most of her work is photography, but reaches into painting as you can see above. Her work has an amazing range of colors and the content is extremely surreal. Have a look.
Wow. We’ve returned from APE, the Alternative Press Expo, in San Francisco. It was two fun filled days at the event, slinging magazines, meeting new people, and discovering new and awesome zines. It was productive and inspiring and exhausting. We’ll definitely be doing it again next year.
We appeared the first day of the show hoping to secure a table even though we were on the waiting list. A blond surfer dude pointed us to empty spot and we unloaded the goods. Unfortunately, the blond surfer dude was a dud, not a dude, as we found that the table we were at was in fact someone else’s. We worked it out the staff and the real fun began.
Over the course of the week, we did some awesome bonding with our staff, Diana and Preston, Tracy Gilbert, Alex Cerrilla, and Justin and Maye. We cleared the nights with binge drinking and sweet sweet lovemaking. We caught up with our loved ones and hung out with our dear friends.
